Mosque Visits

Mosque Visits

IRG is happy to facilitate mosque visits for teachers and their students, groups from houses of worship, or any other interested community parties. These visits allow non-Muslims to experience the space of worship, prayer, and community for Muslims in the Twin Cities Metro area and Greater Minnesota.

During a mosque visit, one or more IRG speakers will greet visitors and welcome them into the mosque space. The speaker(s) will provide a brief tour, explain the function of mosque architecture,  and explain the importance of the mosque in the lives of Muslims and the Muslim community. The tour will end in the prayer space, where the speaker may provide a brief “101”-style introduction to Islam and answer any questions the visitors may have. Depending on the time of the mosque visit, visitors have the opportunity to observe the daily Muslim prayers or the special Friday afternoon prayer.

Any mosque in the state of Minnesota is open for a visit, but some of the more popular mosques are:

  • Masjid An-Nur, 1729 Lyndale Ave. N, Minneapolis
  • Abu Khadra Mosque, 4056 7th St, Columbia Heights
  • The Northwest Islamic Community Center (NWICC), 3300 Plymouth Blvd, Plymouth
  • Islamic Society of Woodbury, 12585 Hudson Rd S, Afton
  • Masjid Hamza, 5995 Timber Trail SE, Prior Lake, MN 55372

If you have specific questions about the logistics and options of visiting a local mosque, please contact us for more information.
