{"id":2,"date":"2014-01-16T04:23:45","date_gmt":"2014-01-16T04:23:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/irgmn.org\/muslimexperience\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2014-02-10T06:02:37","modified_gmt":"2014-02-10T06:02:37","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/irgmn.org\/muslimexperience\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_3MTkyYTIEg\" height=\"315\" width=\"560\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>Tracks in the Snow<\/em> is the third phase of the Minnesota Muslim Experience project\u00a0produced by Islamic Resource Group (IRG) through generous support from the\u00a0Minnesota Historical Society Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund (ACHF).<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota\u2019s Legacy Amendment mandates that a portion of the ACHF be used \u201c<strong>to\u00a0preserve Minnesota\u2019s history and cultural heritage<\/strong>\u201d (Minnesota Constitution,\u00a0Article XI, Sec. 15). The traveling exhibit is designed to expose Minnesotans to the\u00a0untold narratives of Minnesota Muslims, a deep-rooted and growing part of the\u00a0state\u2019s community.<\/p>\n<p>Contrary to popular belief, Minnesota Muslims come from diverse cultural and\u00a0ethnic backgrounds like the broader Muslim American population. This exhibit\u00a0provides a unique perspective about a community that is little known and widely\u00a0misunderstood due to popular misinformation and misconceptions.<\/p>\n<p>To build bridges within the greater Minnesota community, IRG interviewed 40\u00a0Muslim Minnesotans in 2010-11 to share their portraits and stories. In the second\u00a0phase of our Minnesota Muslim Experience project, we created a book and DVDs to\u00a0distribute the interviews widely.
