“God says that He has made you different that you may know one another, that you\u00a0may come to know one another, you know? The best of you, is the one who is most\u00a0conscious of God. So, not that I\u2019m looking to be better than you or that, but to know,\u00a0to know you, but to also acknowledge you too, you know, because we can know\u00a0things, and depending on disposition, we won\u2019t acknowledge them. But this\u00a0language, and, scripture says to know and to acknowledge, you know? So this is\u00a0simply what we\u2019re trying to do. So it takes shape as interfaith dialogue, or some\u00a0community project we might do together, a trip to Jerusalem, some other kinds of,\u00a0Thanksgiving prayer services, things of that nature, it takes the form of that, but\u00a0what I tried to lay out just a moment ago, was kind of what the aim is behind all\u00a0those things. That\u2019s how they express themselves, but that\u2019s what, this is what we\u2019re\u00a0aiming for, so to speak.<\/p>\n

Over the course of time up to now, we\u2019ve seen that morph, and emerging leaders,\u00a0men and women in Islam, here, that have really allowed for us to, \u201cus\u201d meaning the\u00a0Muslim community, to really, to grow, and to change, and to take form in ways that I\u00a0would say twenty years ago, twenty-five years ago would have been hard to\u00a0imagine.<\/p>\n

I think that the influence here is beginning to expand a little bit, and when I say\u00a0influence, not in a coercive kind of a way, but an idea of that we\u2019re being included in\u00a0the discussion, about matters, issues that matter, not only to Muslims, but also to\u00a0others, in that particular way, so all these things, that\u2019s been my experience, like a\u00a0very marginal one, to really, the sky\u2019s the limit right now, in that particular way, and\u00a0I\u2019m an optimist by nature, maybe, you know, but I think that our future is great, here\u00a0in Minneapolis, and even the work that IRG, for example, is doing, I mean this\u00a0historic project that they\u2019re working on right now, this, you know, these are things\u00a0that, that we couldn\u2019t really think about, we couldn\u2019t fathom this.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
