Eventually when his\u00a0son Warith Deen took the leadership role in I think it was 1975 and he brought what\u00a0I call the Orthodox Islam to us at that time. The Qur\u2019an\u2014I always had the Qur\u2019an in\u00a0the Nation, but I never read it\u2014but when his son came into the leadership role in\u00a01975, that\u2019s when we began, he began to tell us to read the Qur\u2019an, study Arabic.\u00a0When I began to read about Prophet Muhammad, his life, and the things that he\u00a0went through, and how he did things, that made me more aware of what the religion\u00a0is about.<\/p>\n<p>My place of worship and my religion is what keeps me focused with all the things\u00a0that are around me today. I know that regardless of what\u2019s going on, there is\u00a0someone higher than all of that, and you know, man can have his whatever, but\u00a0eventually it\u2019ll come down to what it needs to be.<\/p>\n<p>I think, our community, Masjid An-Nur, it\u2019s really one of the most open communities\u00a0that there is as Muslim communities. I really think that. I think when you come\u00a0there, you\u2019re going to see a diversity. You\u2019re not going to just see one ethnic group;\u00a0you\u2019re going to see a diversity of people worshipping at our masjid. And we\u2019ve had\u00a0people say to us, they come to our masjid because they feel comfortable there.
