“I am currently the director of the Al-Shifa Clinic which is a philanthropic clinic that\u00a0we run at the Islamic Center of Minnesota every Sundays. The project has been\u00a0existent for almost fourteen years now. The Anoka County Social Services, a couple\u00a0of churches, a Hindu temple, they basically advocate and advertise our services. We\u00a0basically provide consultative service. There are people who are uninsured,\u00a0underinsured, have high deductible insurance co-pays. They basically come in and,\u00a0with their ailments that we basically try and see if we can take care of and consult\u00a0on and prescribe.<\/p>\n

I think what defines a person to the great extent is the code of conduct, their morals,\u00a0their ethics, and the way they interact with their fellow human beings. And that is\u00a0most important for me and my wife to instill those kinds of values for our kids.<\/p>\n

I think as an individual I feel very strongly about what you owe to your family, to\u00a0your kids, work, society, your fellow workers, your fellow society members, and\u00a0your fellow Minnesotans. I think that little piece and little part of you that you feel\u00a0that that should be dedicated to all these aspects in your life. And I feel very strongly\u00a0about being involved, you know, I\u2019m only around here for once. Gotta make an\u00a0impact here.<\/p>\n

I believe that that\u2019s so important that we do that. And that is the idea behind a lot of\u00a0us in the community, in the Muslim community; we want to give back in whatever\u00a0way or form we can. Whether it be volunteering in Haiti, and we had a team of\u00a0Muslim physicians that did that, whether it be collecting, you know, pennies for a\u00a0cause or volunteering in the March of Dimes, volunteering with the special needs\u00a0children, whether it be volunteering in soup kitchen, food shelves, whatever it takes,\u00a0whatever it takes. I think it\u2019s important that we live by our faith and helping fellow\u00a0Minnesotans, helping fellow human beings. That\u2019s basically what living by our\u00a0values and faith is.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
